About The Farm
College Run Farms was founded in 1999, after Farmer Steve graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Agriculture and Applied Economics. As a 6th generation farmer raised with row crops and hogs, Farmer Steve wanted to diversify and try something new. Our first strawberry crop was planted in 1999 and we added different crops over the years, such as sweet corn, pumpkins, blueberries, and butter beans. We are open daily from late April through October, and closed over the Winter months. Farmer Steve and I (his wife, Jordan) operate the farm, along with our two little boys, and farm cat, Patch.
College Run Farms is named after a water source that is located near the farm, from which we irrigate. We are located in Surry, Virginia at 2051 Alliance Road. We are a pick-your-own farm and allow our customers to enter our fields and harvest their own food, for the majority of our crops.
May – strawberries (the 2013 season is questionable at this time)
June & July – blueberries
July & early August – sweet corn
late September & October – pumpkins and gourds
We also grow butter beans which we harvest around mid-late July and sell in our Farm Market. You can also purchase our homemade ice cream, have a snack or lunch in our picnic area, and visit our giftshop, too,
while at the farm.

(Please note that our crops are seasonal and may not be available every day. Mother Nature has her own schedule and decides when the crops are ready. Sometimes we are in between pickings and have a few days where we are waiting for our produce to ripen. Weather also plays a role in what is available. Always call ahead, check our Facebook updates, or read our web site to ensure that what you are looking for is available that day, and to make sure we are open! Farming depends on the weather, which is unpredictable!_____________________________________________
