Historic Yorktown is the place to be for a fantastic fall lineup of activities such as Rhythms on the Riverwalk, the Yorktown Wine Festival and the Yorktown Fall Festival and Market Days, all held on the waterfront at Riverwalk Landing. Yorktown is filled with art events in support of fall arts including the Annual Yorktown Art Stroll set for Sunday, September 24, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Freight Shed and participating businesses will be filled with paintings and hand crafted artwork by some of the region’s most talented artists. Visit and talk with the artists or sit and watch as they demonstrate their work.
More than 40 artists will be displaying their finest works along Water Street at this annual event. Each year keeps getting better and better. Please join us this year, browse, stroll, or throw out a blanket and listen to music. The event is free and open to the public.
A local favorite returns on Friday, September 8 – the annual “Rhythms on the Riverwalk” Concert Series. The series features toe tappin’ jazz and knee slappin’ country performances from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The series continues weekly on Fridays through October 6.
Yorktown Market Days continues this fall featuring seasonal fruits and vegetables; fresh seafood, eggs, poultry, beef and pork; fresh breads, baked goods, quality art, and entertainment. Market operates weekly on Saturdays 8 am to 12 pm with extended hours Oct. 14, Nov. 11 & 18, and Dec. 9 (No market on Oct 7).
The Watermen’s Museum is proud to present the 4th Annual Yorktown Folk Festival on Saturday and Sunday, October 23 and 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. featuring live music on three different stages featuring regional and local bands. Folk, Blues, Maritime, Rock and Roll, Celtic. Come and sample wines from premiere wineries throughout Virginia at the annual on Saturday, October 7, from 12 to 6 p.m.
The Annual Fall Festival held in conjunction with the Fall Festival Celebration is Saturday, October 14, in addition to the usual array of fresh produce, meat and seafood, baked goods, specialty cut flowers, quality art, and entertainment, fall festival activities include hayrides, face painting, children’s games and activities, pumpkins and mums. This week’s featured music entertainment is Henley Fork (Bluegrass).
Water Street Grille continues with live music on Fridays and Saturday’s beginning at 7 p.m.
Thursday, October 19, will feature the annual Yorktown Day Celebration Special programs and ceremonies, a parade, fifes and drums performances, and special programs commemorate the 236th anniversary of America’s momentous Revolutionary War victory at Yorktown.
Don’t miss one of Yorktown’s treasures aboard the Schooners Alliance and Serenity. Sail into history aboard Yorktown’s 105-foot tall ship. Sails continue daily through October. Or, enjoy a pirate adventure cruise with the family.
Whether you’re a hiker, biker, walker, kayaker, boater or beach lover, Yorktown is an outdoor recreation destination. Fall is the perfect time to get out of the house and take in all the sights and sounds of the area. Take a guided Segway tour of historic Main Street or take a ride on the free Yorktown trolley which offers a great way to tour the entire town at no cost. The trolley continues daily through November 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Event parking is available at Riverwalk Landing in the two-level parking terrace. Additional parking is available in Yorktown at York Hall, the County Administration Building and the Courthouse/Finance Building Complex, which are all within two blocks of the waterfront.
