Presidents’ Weekend Activities at Virginia Living Museum
Who let the dino out? Our walking dinosaur will be on the loose inside and outside the museum on Monday, with appearances at 11am and 1pm. In addition to our animal attractions and Dinosaur Discovery Trail, we have a 3-day weekend full of extra activities!
Here’s the line-up:
Celebrate Black History Month with Storytime at 10 & 11am featuring a reading of “Follow the Drinking Gourd,” followed by a constellation craft to go along with the story. The craft will be available from 10:15am – 12pm.
Scavenger Hunt Families will be given a quiz to complete as they enjoy our indoor & outdoor exhibits. Return completed quiz to the Front Desk and receive a coupon for 20% off in the Wild Side Café.
Monday, Feb. 20 – Dino on the Loose Day
Be sure to bring your camera, as our walking dinosaur will make appearances at 11am and 1pm. Enjoy dina-themed crafts between 10am and 2pm. Meet birds of prey in the Conservation Garden, including the Barred Owl, Great Horned Owl and Red Tailed Hawk.
In honor of Presidents’ Day, we will display an authentic 19th century beaver skin top-hat – not exactly Abe Lincoln tall, but still the same kind of hat we’ve see on lots of presidential heads. The hat will be displayed with a beaver pelt and information describing the connection between beavers, 19th century hats and the decline of beavers in North America due to hat fashions.
