Sign Language for Girl Scouts
Calling all troop leaders! Did you know Juliette Gordon Low had hearing loss? Invite Blossom ‘n’ Thrive to your next meeting to teach your girls American Sign Language and about Deaf culture! Girls receive a fun patch for participating. Two programs available.
“Talk With Your Hands” teaches you and your girls the basics of American Sign Language and explore Deaf culture. You will learn basic signs including the alphabet, counting, the Girl Scout Promise, songs and how to sign your own name! We will explore the little things that you can do make a huge impact in the lives of those who are deaf. Girls will receive a “Sign Language” patch for participating.
Our “Talk with Your Mouth Full “ program prepares your girls for interacting with a Deaf customer during their cookie sale campaign. The “Talk with Your Mouth Full” event includes a review of the ABC’s and 123’s, a new list of cookie sale specific vocabulary, role playing and practical tips for interacting with a customer who is Deaf. Examples of visual resources you can provide to make the experience easier for everyone will be shown. Girls will receive a “Make a Difference” fun patch for participation in the event.
