James City County General Services' Facilities Maintenance Division seeks an individual to performs responsible work coordinating the performance of procedural duties associated with general housekeeping at various County buildings; performing custodian and manual work in the care and cleaning of County facilities; and overseeing, directing, and supervising assigned staff. Responsibilities: Perform a variety of administrative duties including preparation of work logs and field reports. Supervise assigned staff including performance management, employee relations, prioritize and assign work and related activities; recommend personnel actions such as hiring, training, and evaluating, maintain leave records and time sheets, and inspect building daily. Maintain usage records on cleaning supplies, order and deliver cleaning supplies to all County buildings. Perform various duties such as floor care, install or replace paper dispenses, replace ceiling tiles. Perform preventive maintenance on all cleaning equipment. Train Custodians and inspect daily work to ensure proper procedures are followed. Requirements: A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma; and considerable custodial experience; supervisory experience preferred. Must have a valid Virginia driver’s license and acceptable driving record based on James City County criteria. Requires considerable knowledge of commercial building cleaning practices, procedures, supplies, and equipment Knowledge of leadership techniques, principles and procedures to assign work, schedule, supervise, train, and evaluate the work of assigned staff. Must have skill in organizing, planning, prioritizing and time management.
