Fun with Fours & Fives – New Program at the James City County Library designed to move beyond Storytime!
Is your preschooler ready for broader horizons? Fun for Fours & Fives is a new program designed to move preschoolers beyond storytime and introduce them to the social and behavioral requirements of kindergarten through a class-like setting and a variety of fun, group-based activities. There will be four different sessions offered at both library locations each month: Music & Movement, Yoga with Rebecca, Around the World, and Get STEAMED!
Music & Movement is a parent and child music and motion class using the Musikgarten curriculum. Classes include activities such as singing, dancing, instrument play, and much more. Instructors are affiliated with the Early Childhood Music School of Williamsburg.
Yoga with Rebecca is a fun, interactive class in which children will explore yoga postures in a playful, imaginative way with stories and music woven throughout. Yoga helps young children to build self-confidence, body awareness, and focus.
Get STEAMED! features activities using science, technology, engineering, art, or math. Get STEAMED! is presented by WRL librarians.
Around the World is an interactive storytime featuring multicultural stories, songs, rhymes, and fingerplays. Around the World is presented by WRL librarians.
Children must be 4 or 5 years old on the day of the program, and must be accompanied by a caregiver. Siblings who do not meet the age requirement may not attend. Children can be registered for multiple sessions in the month, but only one session each week. Registration is required and will be open on the first of the month prior to the month of classes. Call 757.259.4055 for more information or to register.
