Covid-19 brings us new challenges but we don’t have to be isolated. New World VR doors will be open as soon as our government allows. We are also virtual and we are happy to have our VR camp return this year.
Precautions we are taking:
Safety First! As always, we keep our equipment clean! We are wiping down touch points every hour and headset padding is replaced with each use. We are going to check your temperature and oxygen level before you play. Our venue has lots of space and we only allow up to 12 campers max but at camp social distancing is out and so we have personal protective equipment for your use. However, if you are in a high risk group we offer remote camp too. You can pick up your headset and supplies and head home to for a 2-day adventure in virtual reality with your friends.
Camp starts as soon as we are allowed to open! Camps can be scheduled any Tuesday/Wednesday or Thursday/Friday. Start time is 10AM Pick-up is 2PM.
Our price is $60 per person for both days! Bring extra cash for lunch or pack your lunch if you are coming to our location!
What you will be doing during camp:
Well of course you will play virtual reality games with your friends and the other campers that are staying home! We have Games, Games, Games. We’ll beat this Virus and Zombies too!
This year we will offer 4 stations and campers will buddy up in groups of 2 or 3 per station. We will rotate campers between VR gaming and these camp stations.
YouTube station: We have a YouTube station complete with cameras, editing software, green screen, and YouTube channel. where you’ll learn to how to record video, present, and share your story, jokes, talent, or art creations. We teach you how to record from your computer screen, take video, edit video, and post your video on our Summer Camp YouTube channel. We use the Canon Rebel and GoPro cameras, even the GoPro Fusion 360 camera so you’ll be able to record and play back your 360 story on our VR headsets!
VR Tech Station: We’ll take a look under the hood of the gaming PC and learn about gaming technology. The computers, the VR equipment, Game creation, and see how VR works! Our friendly virtual reality game developers are happy to Zoom with you and tell you how they make games.
Science Station (optional): We use our digital microscopes to take a look at nature up close! If you like what you see you can use our equipment to make your own Up Close and Personal Video to share with your family and friends or post on our Summer Camp YouTube channel.
Engineering Station (optional): This is a single user station that brings engineering education to you through the use virtual reality experiences. These experiences take you to real places and show you how engineering is a part our lives. You will learn about newtons laws, optimization, automation, and synthetics. You will also be introduced to the Rube Works Invention Game (a desktop PC game).
At Home Camp:
You’ll meet all of the campers and we’ll meet you on our Zoom calls each day. Your summer camp at home kit comes complete with one of our Oculus GO headsets packed with games and educational content. The headset is already linked to our other headsets so you can find other campers at our store and other camper at home. Fix up your avatar to make it just so, we will see you in VR! You will get instructions for making your own home videos are recording from your headset. You can make a video at home and send it to us to post on our Summer camp YouTube channel.
