Yorktown Ranger Programs

Join a park ranger for a short walk or talk to gain insight into the American War for Independence.


Yorktown Battlefield Walk (45 mins) 10 am : Join rangers for a short walk and glimpse into the many aspects of the 1781 Siege of Yorktown. Programs will explore an array of hidden stories of those involved in the fight for America’s independence. Be prepared to walk up to one half mile with limited seating along the way. Each ranger-led program begins at the regimental flags in front of the visitor center.

Ranger Talk: (20 mins) 1:30 pm & 3:30 pm: Join a park ranger for a brief exploration into the people, places, and/or events in Yorktown during the American War for Independence. Each ranger has developed a different presentation exploring different stories. Park staff will meet their audience at the Regimental Flags in front of the park Visitor Center and travel to a specific program location. This program requires limited walking and is perfect for visitors with limited time.  

*Nelson House: 1 pm – 4 pm: One of the few remaining structures to survive both the siege of Yorktown and the Civil War, this historic home tells the stories of America’s struggles and growth. *The Nelson House will be open each weekend from 1pm–4pm (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) as staffing allows.
