There are quite a few annual events that fall in March that locals and visitors will enjoy. Plus we have our St. Patricks Day weekend post up and ready for all those Paddy’s Day themed events. But Williamsburg is already in bloom so a simple walk on DoG Street (the main street in Colonial Williamsburg) is a wonderful thing to do in March. Busch Gardens is now a Year Round Amusement Park – St. Paddy’s Day
March is a great month to visit because Busch Gardens started the month off with the continuation of Mardi Gras and then moved into St. Paddy’s Day Celebrations. These events change the theming of the park, items to purchase, food and drink and shows. You can come back a week later and see something totally new! Williamsburg Farmers Market – Opens March 4th for 2023 Season
The Williamsburg Farmers Market returns for weekly markets on Saturdays from 8 am to noon for the 2023 Season beginning on Saturday March 4. So head down to DoG St. (Duke of Gloucester St) and shop your favorite vendors. Bring your family, friends and your dog. Grab a coffee and get some market shopping done! Winter Markets on the Yorktown Waterfront Begin in February and run through March 18!
This is your lucky day! Join us for Yorktown Market Days’ final Winter Market on Saturday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Riverwalk Landing. Our St. Patrick’s Day Market will have you clicking your heels in delight as you shop from nearly 60 vendors and artists selling locally grown, produced, and crafted products. You won’t see four-leaf clovers, but you will find a vast selection of baked goods, prepared soups, gourmet chocolates, homemade candles, dog treats, local art, and more! Be sure to bring the kids. Shamrock in the Burg
The Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg, in partnership with Culturefix, will hold its annual fundraiser, Shamrock the ‘Burg. The event will be held at the Williamsburg Community Center from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and will feature the area’s most sought-after Irish Band, the Fighting Jamesons. A traditional Irish meal, dance exhibition by The Brothers Pelletier, spiced rum tastings, Aleworks finest, a raffle and more. All proceeds benefit Colonial CASA, Dream Catchers, Grove Christian Outreach, and the Williamsburg Regional Library Kids Idea Studio.
If you can’t attend Shamrock the ‘Burg, please consider helping Kiwanis meet a need in our community – food insecurity. Our club is working with Culture Cafe for meal preparation and with Grove Christian Outreach for meal distribution. Purchase an Irish Blessing meal, and a St. Patrick’s Day dinner will be provided for a community member in need. Cost of each meal is $25.

Military through the Ages – centuries of military history – all in one weekend at the Jamestown Settlement – March 18 – 19, 2023
Make ready for centuries of military history – all in one weekend –Romans, Vikings, knights. Privateers, sailors, soldiers. patriotic music and artillery salutes – during Jamestown Settlement’s time-honored Military Through the Ages event on Saturday and Sunday, March 18-19.
Bring the family to see hundreds of re-enactors depicting armed forces from 500 B.C.E. all the way to modern-day soldiers with the Virginia Army National Guard.
As one of the most unique chronological displays of military history, you will explore military encampments and interact with re-enactors to learn how uniforms, weapons and tactics evolved through the centuries. Military through the Ages Schedule of Events here

Fido Fest – March 25 from 10 am to 2 pm
Don’t miss the PAW-TY! Grab the leash and get to the park with your furry friend for a fun time! Family and dog-friendly activities, entertaining demos, games, contests, fabulous food ($) and community vendors will also be present. Co-sponsor: Heritage Humane Society.

York River State Park Events for March
The park is open from 8 a.m. to dusk. The park visitor center, office, and gift shop are open from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. This park has great events, dock for canoes and kayaks, fishing, horse trails, hiking trails and some challenging mountain bike trails too! Check out the big list of events for March here

Chippokes State Park Events for March
Chippokes is one of the oldest continually farmed plantations in the country. A working farm since 1619, the park offers modern recreational activities and a glimpse of life in a bygone era. Visitors tour the historic area with its antebellum mansion and outbuildings, stroll through formal gardens, and view antique equipment at the Chippokes Farm and Forestry Museum. They have a campground and four overnight cabins allow visitors to stay on the historic grounds. The park has a visitor center with a gift shop. It also provides opportunities to bike, hike, ride horseback and picnic. Did you know that Chippokes also offers wedding packages and meeting facilities?
