Yorktown Day Schedule of Events

8:45 a.m. – Commemorative Ceremony at the French Cemetery, Yorktown Battlefield, sponsored by The American Friends of Lafayette and The Friends of Rochambeau.
9:15 a.m. – Wreath laying ceremony at the French Monument in memory of French war veterans.
9:15 a.m. – Wreath laying ceremony at the grave of Governor Thomas Nelson, Jr. at Grace Episcopal Church, Yorktown sponsored by the Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution.
10:00 a.m. – Profiles of Honor Mobile open, adjacent to Monument Parking Lot
10:30 a.m. – Yorktown Day Parade, Main Street, sponsored by the National Park Service.
11:15 a.m. – Patriotic Exercises and Memorial Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Monument to Alliance and Victory, Yorktown, sponsored by the Yorktown Day Association.
11:30 a.m. – Ham biscuits and pie sold at Grace Church, by Yorktown Women’s Club.
1:00 p.m. – 3rd Infantry Old Guard Fife and Drum performance at Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center
Visit the Town of York, the National Park Service Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center and Battlefield Tours, the Nelson House, the Custom House, the Watermen’s Museum, the Gallery at York Hall, the York County Historical Museum, and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. On the Battlefield Tour Roads, visit the siege lines, the redoubts, and Surrender Field. Visit the Riverwalk Landing along the Yorktown Waterfront and don’t miss taking a sail on Yorktown’s home ported ships, the schooners Alliance and Serenity.

Vehicular access to the following streets in historic Yorktown will be restricted to residents and their guests on Friday, October 19, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Please note the exception of Zweybrucken Road and Bacon Street.
- Zweybrucken Road (closed to vehicular traffic until 12:30 p.m.)
- Bacon Street (closed to vehicular traffic until 12:30 p.m.)
- Smith Street
- Nelson Street
- Read Street
- Church Street
- Main Street
The Yorktown Trolley will deviate from its normal route to accommodate the parade and patriotic exercises commemorating the 237th anniversary of the American and French Revolutionary War victory at Yorktown. The trolley will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. following this schedule:
- 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – National Park Service Visitor Center to the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown via Ballard Street to Water Street and return via Water Street and Ballard Street.
- 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. – (Returns to normal route) National Park Service Visitor Center to the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown via Zweybrucken Road, Comte de Grasse Street and Water Street and return via Water Street and Ballard Street.
All public parking areas in historic Yorktown will be open to the public with the exception of the following lots: Parking lot between Church Street and Read Street, and behind the County Administration Center, 224 Ballard Street, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. due to parade activities.
