Yorktown Victory Celebration,
October 20 & 21, 2018 from 9 am – 5 pm
The 237th anniversary of America’s momentous 1781 Revolutionary War victory at Yorktown will be celebrated October 20 and 21 at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown with hands-on military experiences, artillery firings and interpretive programs.
Commemorative programs take place on October 19 at Yorktown Battlefield and in historic Yorktown.
Visitors to the Continental Army encampment can learn the steps leading to the firing of an artillery piece, followed by its firing, during daily programs. Visitors also can enjoy military musical performances and learn about military life, from enlistment to medical treatment.
Farm visitors can learn about typical life of a Revolution-era farming family, including how families produced homespun clothing during the war and assist in turning plant fibers for cloth. A daily program will allow visitors to lend a hand with 18th-century meal preparation and preservation.
Exhibition galleries engage visitors in the tumult, drama and promise of the Revolution through period artifacts and immersive environments, dioramas, interactive exhibits and short films.
Special event activities are presented in part by the York County Arts Commission.
The event is included with museum admission: $12.00 for adults, and $7.00 for ages 6-12. Children under 6 receive complimentary admission. For more information on Yorktown Victory Celebration or events at Yorktown, visit the Yorktown website.
