AARP Williamsburg Tax-Aide providing FREE in-person tax assistance and preparation
Williamsburg AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers its tax preparation services for taxpayers of any age, especially those over 50 or who cannot afford a paid preparer. Tax-Aide is sponsored by the AARP Foundation and is the largest free volunteer-based tax assistance and preparation program in the US. We have been in the Williamsburg area for nearly 30 years and annually help up to 3,000 residents with their tax returns. We are neighbors helping neighbors.
Appointments are available on-line or via phone. Walk-ins are also welcome, as schedules allow. We will be open for walk-ins at the Williamsburg library on January 31st with appointments starting thereafter at both Williamsburg and James City County libraries.
In addition to the traditional Full-Service option in which our counselor prepares and e-files your return, a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) option has been added this year. Users with an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) below $89,000 are eligible to prepare their own 2025 tax returns using Tax-Aide-provided computers and software. IRS-certified volunteers provide on-site support, but participants must ensure both the accuracy and completeness of their returns. And as mentioned, our traditional Full-Service option is still available. Appointments and other important details are available at the link and phone numbers below:
