Please join us for a special celebration honoring the incredible work of Albert Durant, Williamsburg’s very first Black city-licensed photographer! π
Durantβs priceless photography collectionβhoused at the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Libraryβprovides a stunning, vital visual history of Black life in Williamsburg and our surrounding communities from the late 1930s through the early 1960s. ποΈβ€οΈ
What to expect: π Learn more about recent, exciting projects happening with the Albert Durant Photography Collection. π₯ Participate in interactive photo identification sessions to help library associates match more names with the historic individuals captured in his photos!
