Michael Paul Williams is a Richmond native and longtime journalist who has served as a columnist for the Richmond Times-Dispatch since 1992. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Union University and a master’s degree from Northwestern University.
Known for placing current events within a broader historical framework, Williams was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary in 2021. His work has also earned multiple Virginia Press Association honors, and he has been featured on various national news and podcast platforms.
