Historian James D. Rice shares a vivid, detailed look at Bacon’s Rebellion, exploring how its events and aftermath became part of America’s founding story.
Guests will meet the larger-than-life figures drawn into the escalating conflict—from the powerful Governor William Berkeley and the determined rebel leader Nathaniel Bacon, to Pamunkey chieftain Cockacoeske, Susquehannock warrior Monges, and trader and planter William Byrd I. As tensions rise month by month, the story reveals a struggle that shaped the direction of a young colony—and left questions that echoed for generations.
