As part of the special exhibition “Outlander: Costumes Woven in Time,” guests can step into history during a hands-on workshop led by living-history interpreters on the Revolution-era farm at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Participants will discover how different fibers were dyed in the 18th century and explore the important role homespun fabrics played during the war, including how purchased, grown, and foraged dyestuffs helped extend the life of clothing.
Guests will even try cloth-dyeing themselves and take home a hand-dyed silk scarf as a keepsake. This program is appropriate for ages 13 and older and is limited to 20 attendees.Â
