James City County Police Department FREE VIN etching – Sept. 14

JCCPD to host VIN etching event

JCCPD logo

James City County Police Department, in partnership with the Virginia State Police Help Eliminate Auto Theft (HEAT) program, will host a VIN etching event on Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the parking lot at Target, 4630 Monticello Avenue, Williamsburg.

The VIN etching process uses a chemical to permanently mark glass, takes only about 10 minutes to complete and doesn’t affect the appearance of the vehicle. This process creates an obstacle for potential car thieves in that VIN etched glass must be stripped and replaced before a criminal can sell the car.

This program is free and open to the public.

This event is now over, please visit WilliamsburgFamilies Seasonal Events page for all the latest events.
