The James City County Police Department will host an Active Threat Awareness & Stop the Bleed Training on Thursday, July 9 from 6–9 p.m. at the James City County Law Enforcement Center, located at 4600 Opportunity Way.
This instructor-led, hands-on program is designed to equip community members with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively during an active threat or life‑threatening bleeding emergency. The training is appropriate for churches and faith-based organizations, businesses and workplaces, community groups, and residents.
Participants will learn:
- How to recognize and respond to an active threat
- Run • Hide • Fight survival principles
- Bleeding control fundamentals
- Tourniquet application and other life‑saving techniques
- Steps to take before first responders arrive
No prior experience is required.

For those unable to attend, on-site training can be scheduled for organizations and groups. Sessions can be customized and are ideal for staff, volunteers, and community members.
