UPDATE: Due to inclement weather, the special Veterans Day programming has been cancelled, including the Military March Honoring America’s Veterans, Veterans Day Proclamation Ceremony, and In Defense of our Liberty special event.
All active duty Military, Reservists, Retirees, Veterans, National Guardsmen and their immediate dependents will still receive free admission to the Historic Area during this Veterans Day Weekend from November 11-13 as part of our partnership with the Home Depot Foundation.

Veterans Day programming begins at 10 a.m. with a ceremony on Palace Green honoring the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. This stirring tribute is presented in partnership with the Williamsburg Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Learn more

Veterans Day: A Military March Honoring America’s Veterans:

An afternoon march and ceremony honoring America’s veterans featuring the Colonial Williamsburg Fifes and Drums, Military Programs staff, and an address of gratitude to Williamsburg community veterans by Mrs. Washington. The march will begin at Capitol Circle and conclude at Market Square with a military muster and salute to the citizen soldier ceremony behind the Courthouse. All armed forces veterans are welcome and encouraged to participate. Learn more
In Defense of Our Liberty at Colonial Williamsburg
Thursday Nov 11, 2022 from 7 pm – 8 pm
Now is your chance to enlist in the Continental Army. As a recruit, see what it was like to be a soldier in the 18th century. Learn how soldiers lived, fought, and survived an eight-year ordeal to become free and independent. Raise your hand to affirm your allegiance to the 13 United States of America, and your journey will begin. This event is held outdoors in all weather conditions, so dress accordingly and be prepared for walking and some physical activity. Due to safety issues, every attendee must meet the minimum required age of 9 years to be an active participant in the program. Runs rain or shine, except in cases of severe inclement or cold weather.
