The Celtic Film Series in the Williamsburg Library Theatre runs the 2nd Thursday of each month from September 2026 through May 2027. The Celtic Film Series is supported by the Cardinal John O’Connor Division of The Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Sept 9: The Commitments (1991) Film starts at 6:00 p.m. Alan Parker directed this musical dramedy about an unemployed Irish lad who puts together a Soul band made up of working stiffs. This popular Irish musical costars Robert Arkins, Michael Aherne, and Angeline Ball. 1 hr, 58 min (R)
Oct 7: The Angels’ Share (2012) Robbie and his circle of friends, each of them one step away from jail, believe that their chance for a better way of life lies in a heist of fine Scotch whiskey from a local distiller. This warm-hearted Scottish comedy was directed by Ken Loach and stars Paul Brannigan and John Henshaw. 1 hr, 41 min (R)
