Felicity Two Day Celebration: A Doll’s History Brought to Life

What if a doll could lead you back through history? This two-day celebration at the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg in connection with Colonial Williamsburg: The First 100 Years exhibition, explores the remarkable story behind one of the most beloved characters in children’s literature.

Through these events learn more about the real history, craft, and living legacy that made her possible. From a panel discussion with the author, researchers, and interpreters whose lives were shaped by the books, to a fashion showcase tracing the 18th-century prints behind Felicity’s iconic looks, to an intimate meet-and-greet with author Valerie Tripp, to a doll’s-eye tour of the collections and hands-on crafts for you and your doll.

Pop into the Goode Education Studio during Saturday’s events to see a display from the Changnon Family Museum featuring select items that highlight the historic partnership between Pleasant Company and Colonial Williamsburg. Every event traces the journey from archive to page to real life.

6:00PM – 1774 Style Showcase: The Fashion Behind Felicity in the Hennage Auditorium ($10/$5 event ticket required)

Saturday, July 18:

1:30PM, 2:00PM, 2:30PM, 3:00PM – A Doll’s-Eye View Tours (Free admission)
