Learn about the Sommelier
Sommelier Richard Gerardo is originally from Los Angeles, CA and graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where he studied Biology. For 20 years he worked in the Food & Beverage Industry including working for the Richmond Restaurant Group for 5 years at a tapas restaurant downtown called Europa. It was at this restaurant that his love of wine began, learning the wines of Spain and Europe. He then moved on to work for what is now Breakthru Beverage Distributors where he worked as a sales rep in the Richmond area for 7 years. Most recently came from an independent, fine dining steakhouse in Richmond called Buckhead’s Restaurant & Chophouse whose 25 year reputation is unrivaled. There he managed a 700+ bottle wine list and developed a craft cocktail program. In March of 2018, he sat and passed the Certified Sommelier test through the Court of Master Sommeliers.
