NOTE: As of August 14, due to unforeseen circumstances the Southern Fried Music Festival featuring Big & Rich and The Oak Ridge Boys has been cancelled. Refunds available through Hampton Coliseum.
Fortunately the Virginia BBQ Championships, the VA Car Show and the outdoor performances will still go on as planned on August 23 – 24 at the Hampton Coliseum.

The Hampton Coliseum will play host to the biggest festival in Southern Virginia this summer. The Southern Fried Festival features the VA Car Show, the Virginia BBQ Championships and the outdoor Southern Fried Music Festival staring Celeste Kellogg, Pork McElhinny and Amber Leigh.

The VA Car Show: Saturday, August 23 from 10 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Sunday, August 24 from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

The Virginia BBQ Championship: Saturday, August 23 from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The outdoor Southern Fried Music Festival, August 23 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

The Southern Fried After-Party, August 23 from 9 p.m. – 2 a.m.

What:The Southern Fried Festival

  • The VA Car Show (Saturday, August 23, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. – Hampton Coliseum Parking Lot): The car show opens at 10a.m. to the public and features a wide variety of hot rods, prostreet, modern muscle, classics, motorcycles and 4x4s. The show will also have outdoor entertainment including: Professional Stunt Rider, Mike Steidley, a Kids Zone, and musical performances by Celeste Kellogg, Pork McElhinny and Rockabilly Weekend. General admission is $15, Military/Veteran admission is $12, children’s tickets are $6 (ages 7-12) and children under 6 are free. Admission grants access to both the car show and the bbq competition. 2-day passes are available for $25.
  • The Virginia BBQ Championships (Saturday, August 23, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. – Hampton Coliseum Grass Zone/Parking Lot): The Virginia BBQ Championships is a sanctioned event by the Kansas City Barbeque Society. The aim is to discover and crown the best barbecue, both amateur and professional, in the great state of Virginia.  The 2014 Virginia BBQ Championship categories are: beef brisket, pork ribs, chicken and pork. Barbeque vendors will be on site to cure everyone’s ‘que cravings. Spectators will have the chance to talk with competitors and pick up some tricks of the trade to bring to their own summer barbeques. Gates open at 10 a.m. and the BBQ champions are crowned at 4:30 p.m.
  • The Southern Fried Festival After-Party (Saturday, August 23, 9 p.m. – 2 a.m., PBR Hampton Roads): After the show, things will get a little crazy with a post-concert party hosted by PBR. Known for their buckle bunnies and mechanical bull, the place will be high energy and the party will go until the cows come home.
  • The VA Car Show (Sunday, August 24, 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. – Hampton Coliseum Parking Lot): The VA Car Show returns to the Hampton Coliseum Parking Lot and gates will open at 10 a.m. Sunday’s Car Show will feature a Pop-and-Locke sponsored Pin-Up Girl contest starting at 2p.m. The car show’s awards ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. Live music will also be going on all day long.
