UPDATE : Marine Science Day will look different this year. Due to COVID-19 VIMS Marine Science Day is going virtual. Interact with VIMS faculty, staff, and students while learning about the important research they conduct. This virtual event will feature videos and resources to explore as well as live-streamed talks, demonstrations, and Q&A sessions with scientists. This will be a fun, educational, and engaging day for all ages.
Additional information, including a schedule of the day’s activities, will be announced soon.
Registration is required in order to access the Marine Science Day virtual platform.
Show your creativity by using materials you have at home to dress yourself, your family, or your pet like a marine plant or animal! Then take a photo and register for Marine Science Day. You will receive an email on May 28 with a link to the MSD virtual platform and instructions on how to upload your photo for the contest. Photos must be uploaded before 1:00 pm on May 30. A live-streamed awards ceremony for the contest will take place at 2:00 pm that day via the virtual platform.
This contest is open to all ages, and individual, family, and pet costumes are welcome!
Awards will be given for
- Most Original Plant or Animal
- Most Creative Use of Materials
- Best Family Costume
- Best Representation of a Plant or Animal
- Best Pet Costume
- Grand Prize
Prizes will be mailed to winners after May 30th.
