Williamsburg Harvest Celebration – November 11-15

Join us in celebrating the first Williamsburg Harvest Celebration (WHC) November 11-15, featuring over 40 culinary inspired events hosted in Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown highlighting all things Virginia – Chefs, Farmers, Artisans, Foragers, Authors, Brewers, Winemakers, and Culinary Historians.  Events in historic Yorktown will be hosted by the Yorktown Victory Center, Riverwalk Restaurant, Watermen’s Museum, Water Street Grille and Carrot Tree.  Don’t miss the Oyster Roast in the Freight Shed on Sunday overlooking the York River.  Yorktown Market Days will also participate with special chef demonstrations on Saturday.  Come celebrate community and gathering together this fall for the inaugural Williamsburg Harvest Celebration.

 

Wednesday, November 11

WHC Kick-Off Reception at the Yorktown Victory Center

5:30 to 7:30 p.m., $40

Sample Virginia fare prepared by eight local establishments and sip Craft VA Beer and Cider plus VA Wine from The Colonial Wine Trail in the beautiful new Victory Center overlooking the York River. Participating so far are Williamsburg Winery, Colonial Williamsburg, Extraordinary Cupcakes, Silt, James River Cellars, New Kent Winery, Saude Creek Vineyards and Riverwalk Restaurant. The Fifes and Drums of York Town will welcome guests at the entrance and greeters will include the Founders of the Williamsburg Harvest Celebration. Come join the festivities and help us celebrate this inaugural event!

 

Thursday, November 12

Yorktown Tapas Crawl

The quaint town of Yorktown is known for its water view restaurants on the scenic York River, featuring innovative and sophisticated cuisine served in relaxed unpretentious settings. Join us Thursday evening for ‘A Taste of Riverwalk,’ a dining tour of three of Yorktown’s finest.

Featuring Water Street Grille, an intimate place big on flavor and personality, and a Yorktown must-do offering 20 micro brews with a delicious tapas menu.

Then move on to Riverwalk Restaurant, where their Chefs have created a savory menu using fresh, local seafood, natural meats, and utilizing local farmer’s produce to create fresh, delicious creations.

Finish your evening off with a delectable dessert from Carrot Tree either inside or on their beautiful outdoor terrace. Enjoy delicious made from scratch desserts from their favorite baker, Debi.

Each restaurant will feature a small plate selection and drink offering and are all within walking distance of each other along the Yorktown waterfront. Tickets are limited!

Watermen’s Museum Tour & Lunch at Riverwalk Restaurant

Located on the Yorktown waterfront just upriver from the Riverwalk Landing shopping and dining area, the Watermen’s Museum is the perfect addition to your Historic Triangle visit.

The museum’s mission is to demonstrate the role Chesapeake Bay Watermen, from pre-colonial to modern times, have played in the shaping of our nation. You will view historical exhibits, displays of their crafts and learn about methods of their trade. Plus take a look into their lives.

After your museum visit meander along the waterfront to Riverwalk Restaurant next door, where you will enjoy lunch highlighting regional fare.

Craft Beer Dinner at the Water Street Grille in Yorktown

Water Street Grille, is an intimate place big on flavor and personality, and a Yorktown must-do, offering 20 micro brews and a delicious tapas menu. Your evening will feature a four course tapas menu prepared by the culinary team paired with brews from Old Bust Head Brewery from Warrenton, VA. This promises to be an evening filled with conversation and libations overlooking the York River.

 

Saturday, November 14

Yorktown Market Days & Cooking Demos

Riverwalk Landing, 331 Water Street, Yorktown, VA 23690

9 a.m. to 3 p.m., FREE

Market Days is located at Riverwalk Landing in Historic Yorktown overlooking the York River. As part of the Williamsburg Harvest Celebration, the market will operate with extended hours and offer items unique to the season, in addition to the usual array of fresh produce, meat and seafood, baked goods, quality art, entertainment and more. Two cooking demos at10:30 a.m. and noon will be prepared by local chefs highlighting market ingredients. Samples of the prepared items will be offered after each demo. Enjoy live entertainment by Ralph Motley and the Last Minute Grass featuring Bluegrass tunes.

 

Saturday, November 14

Watermen’s Museum Chili Cook-off

11 a.m. to 3 p.m., $10

Hosted on the waterfront in Yorktown overlooking the York River, this event features professional and home chefs alike. Come and sample each competitor’s chili and vote for the People’s Choice. Local craft beer and Virginia cider will also be offered. Ticket includes samples each competitor’s chili. Beer, beverages, dogs and desserts will be available for purchase.

 

Saturday, November 14

Virginia Wine Dinner at Riverwalk Restaurant in Yorktown

323 Water Street, Yorktown, VA 23690

6:30 to 9:30 p.m., $84

Overlooking the scenic York River, the restaurant’s casual setting lends itself to a relaxed dining experience: be it in the large windows looking out to the York River or the stone fireplace burning in the cooler seasons. Join vintner and winery proprietor, Michael Shaps for a special evening featuring a four course dinner paired with wines from Michael Shaps Wineworks.

 

Sunday, November 15

Oyster Roast at the Freight Shed with Bluegrass

1 to 4 p.m., $50

Spend your afternoon sipping and sampling while overlooking the York River. Featuring oysters from all seven regions in VA, with the oyster growers on hand, manning stations. Bluegrass music by More Perfect Jones, craft beer, wine, and cider all from Virginia will also be featured. Artisans will be on hand showcasing their products made in Virginia…what a perfect way to get some early Christmas shopping done all while eating and drinking. Oh what fun! Fall is the perfect time to get out of the house and take in all the sights and sounds of the area. Take a guided Segwaytour of historic Main Street or rent a bike and enjoy the battlefield tour roads, which offer a great way to take in Yorktown’s history.

Event parking is available at Riverwalk Landing in the two-level parking terrace. Additional parking is available in Yorktown at York Hall, the County Administration Building and the Courthouse/Finance Building Complex, which are all within two blocks of the waterfront.
