U.S. Constitution Gallery Exhibits & Interactive
In The New Nation permanent exhibition gallery near a life-size statue of George Washington, the story of America moves forward from the 1783 Treaty of Paris recognizing the United States as an independent nation with boundaries extending to the Mississippi River. Recognition of the need for a stronger national government than provided by the Articles of Confederation adopted during the Revolution led to the Constitutional Convention of 1787 and the formation in 1789 of the national government that continues to today, a story that unfolds in a short film. An interactive on the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights presents question-and-answer scenarios and a document explorer showing how the legacy of the Constitution and Bill of Rights applies to Americans today.
Constitution Week activities are included with museum admission.
Admission tickets can be purchased online or in person at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. A value-priced combination ticket with Jamestown Settlement also is available. Children ages 5 and under are admitted free.
