Father’s Day Surf & Turf is Sunday, June 18, 2023
York River State Park, holds its annual Father’s Day Surf & Turf on Sunday, June 18 at 2 pm to 5 pm. This one you need to preregister for and nope there isn’t any food involved!
This event will treat dad to an adventure on land and sea. Dad and family will paddle the York River to Fossil Beach. Upon arrival, the whole group of dads and families plus the park ranger will search for prehistoric relics and return. This is a really fun event (see our review for the Mother’s Day Surf and Turf from a few years ago).
Kids are welcome but they say ages 6 and older. If you have a question on age – mention it when you reserve your spots. If you have a child that is not comfortable rowing rent a canoe and put them in the middle seat. They also offer Kayak rentals. See the fees below.
Standard parking or admission fee applies if you are coming to the park before the event to hike or attend another event (parking fee is $5) but there is no fee if you are just coming at 1:45 pm for the 2 pm Surf & Turf.
To register for this event call them at 757-566-3036. The cost is based on how many people are in your group and what type of boat you are renting. Dads get into this event for free!
Here are the event fees:
Per person fee for canoe: $9 per person unless you have a family of 4 or more then it is $6 person. So we have a family of four including our dad. We paid $18 for two canoes. Canoes fit up to 3 people.
