Planning a staycation for spring break? The library has some exciting adventures planned for the week, April 6 – 12, 2026!
Kids:
Monday, April 6 – Springtime Suncatchers Craft A drop-in craft where you’ll make colorful suncatchers for your springtime windows using contact paper and tissue paper. 2 – 4 pm – James City County Library
Wednesday, April 8 – Meet Our Community Helpers See real emergency vehicles up close, and learn about fire safety in the Safety House, presented by the Williamsburg Fire Department and Williamsburg Police Department. 1-3 pm – Williamsburg Library
Thursday, April 9 – Exploring the Titanic Are you fascinated by the Titanic? Join us for an immersive voyage on the world’s most famous ship as we learn Morse Code, explore how the ship sank, and show off our knowledge with some Titanic trivia! All participants will take a deep dive into the life of a real Titanic survivor and follow the story of their voyage. Ages 9 to 12. Registration required. 2-3 pm – Williamsburg Library
Friday, April 10 & & Saturday, April 11 – Revolutionary War and Invisible Ink Expo! An immersive and educational experience. Delve into the captivating world of the Revolutionary War and the secret communication methods used during that time, Discover the fascinating stories of the war for independence and the intriguing use of invisible ink in the war effort. Engage in interactive workshops on how invisible ink was utilized during the Revolutionary War, with demonstrations on how to make and use invisible ink. You’ll even have the opportunity to write and decode your own secret messages. In addition, the bookmobile will host storytelling sessions featuring popular tales from the Revolutionary War era, and live performances that bring history to life through immersive experiences. Don’t miss this chance to be a part of this unique and educational event! 10 am – 1 pm – Waltrip Williamsburg Executive Airport
Friday, April 10 – WYO Meet the Instruments Join musicians from the Williamsburg Youth Orchestra for a fun, interactive program where kids can explore a variety of musical instruments! Get up close with strings, winds, and brass, and discover the joy of making music. 2 – 3 pm – James City County Library
Come Play at the Kiwanis Kids Idea Studio!



Play in a vibrant, engaging area that focuses on the twin literacy skills of reading and play. The Kiwanis Kids Idea Studio integrates our collection with children’s museum-style elements including air tubes, an interactive floor, a giant tablet table, and more! Located in the James City County Library.
Take a walk outdoors and read a story at the James City County Library’s Story Trail. Families are invited to walk from page to page in the green space behind the library.
Teens check out the teen room at the James City County Library! This room features fun tech including virtual reality headsets, Nintendo Switches, an arcade game table, and lounge seating. For ages 13-18. James City County Library
