Youth Events:

June 17 – Tween Lounge Have a snack, make a craft, play games, or just hang out with friends. Every week has something new: board games, video games, crafts, and more. For ages 9-12. 12-2 PM – Williamsburg Library

June 22 – Preschool Dance Party What do you get when you add balloons and bubbles to music? A fantastic preschool dance party! Put on your dancing shoes and join us for an exciting hour of songs, movement, rhymes, and just plain fun. Parents, it’s a great time for you to share your best moves with your little ones as well. 11 AM – Stryke Center

June 22 – Spy Storytime & Craft I spy an exciting storytime and craft! Listen to stories of sneaky spies and write your own secret message in invisible ink. Pick up a ticket at the Youth Services desk starting 30 minutes before the program to reserve your spot. 2 PM – James City County Library

June 23 – Quiet Time for the Spectrum Enjoy the library before hours in a quieter, less stimulating environment for people with autism and sensory issues. 12 PM – James City County Library

ONGOING:

Mondays, June 10 – August 26 Baby Storytime This lapsit storytime program is appropriate for babies from birth to 18 months and their caregivers, with 15 minutes of songs, fingerplays, and lap games. Pick up a ticket at the Youth Services desk starting at 9 am to save your spot. 10 AM – James City County Library

Puppet Storytime This all-ages storytime includes stories, songs, and more, featuring the WRL Puppets, brought to life by teen volunteers.

Tuesdays, June 18 – August 6 Terrific Tuesdays Enjoy some summer sunshine after storytime with lawn toys and other outdoor activities at the James City County Library. Weather permitting; all ages welcome. 10:30 AM – James City County Library

Thursdays, June 20 – August 8 (closed July 4) Catch-a-Craft Get creative with a new craft every week. No registration required; drop in any time! 1-6 PM – James City County Library

Fridays, June 21 – August 9 Fun Fridays on the Square It’s a party on the plaza all summer long! Join us on City Square outside the Williamsburg Library each Friday after storytime, for children’s games, activities, and snacks.  Weather permitting; all ages welcome. 10:30 AM – City Square

Open Art Studio is closed from June 3-9.Open Art Studio Come paint, draw, create, and explore with a variety of materials in the Open Art Studio. James City County Library

Daily – Come Play at the Kiwanis Kids Idea Studio! Come in from the cold to the James City County Library. Play in a vibrant, engaging area that focuses on the twin literacy skills of reading and play. The Kiwanis Kids Idea Studio integrates our collection with children’s museum-style elements including air tubes, an interactive floor, a giant tablet table, and more! James City County Library

DailyStory Trail Take a walk outdoors and read a story at the James City County Library’s Story Trail. We invite families to walk from page to page in the green space behind the library. All Day – James City County Library


Teens:

June 5 – Gaming on the Big Screen Have a smashing good time playing Super Smash Bros. UltimateMario Kart 8, and more on the big screen in the Williamsburg Library Theatre. For ages 9-18. No registration required for open play, but you must register by calling 757-741-3300 option 4 to compete in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament on August 5. 2-4 PM – Williamsburg Library

June 17, 18, 20, & 21Teen Creative Writing Join us for an opportunity to explore experiences and feelings through creative writing in a relaxed, safe, and nonjudgmental environment. For ages 13-18. No registration required. 6:30 PM – James City County Library

June 21Teens Night Out Celebrate the end of the week with friends, games, snacks, music and more! Enjoy all the Teen Room has to offer! For ages 13 through adult, no registration required. 6-8 PM – James City County Library

DailyNEW Teen Room at the James City County Library Check out the brand-new teen room at the James City County Library! This room features fun tech including virtual reality headsets, Nintendo Switches, an arcade game table, and lounge seating. For ages 13-18.


Adult:

June 18 – Social Security: Protecting You from Fraud Presented by Social Security Public Affairs Specialist Mackenzie Eckenrode, this presentation will walk you through how the Social Security Administration protects you from fraud, and what steps you can take to protect yourself and your loved ones. June 20 – Introduction to Libby Learn how to use the library’s one-stop shop for ebooks and eaudiobooks. Please bring the mobile device you want to read or listen on (smartphone, tablet, ereader). You will need to know your library card number, your password for downloading apps, and your Amazon password if using a Kindle device.  We will also go over using Libby on a desktop computer. Seating is limited; please register by calling 757.741.3300, and select option 2 to sign up. 10 AM – James City County Library

June 20 – Introduction to Oral History Interested in doing an oral history with your family or in your community, but you don’t know how? Help is here! Join in for this session with Colonial Williamsburg historian Andre Taylor, who will teach you how to plan and conduct an oral history. 6:30 PM – Williamsburg Library

Makerspace Open! Check out our new creative space at the Williamsburg Library. Explore 3D printers, Glowforge 3D laser printer, Cricut, and sewing machines during walk-in hours. Read more about the Makerspace. Walk-in hours: Mon-Thurs: 1 -5 PM, Sun & Sun: 1 – 5 PM.
