This film series brings art house film flavor to your Tuesdays. Plus, meet new friends, hear from special guests who are film experts, enjoy light refreshments, and have a discussion after the film.  

July 29: The Quilters (2024) and The Last Repair Shop (2023) Enjoy two award-winning short documentaries about people giving back to the world.

August 5: Oranges and Sunshine (2010) R In the 1980s, a British social worker discovers that, for decades, the U.K. disposed of poor and orphaned children by surreptitiously shipping them to overseas colonies. Based on a true story, the film was directed by Jim Loach and stars Emily Watson, Aisling Loftus, and Stuart Wolfenden. 1hr 45min. 

August 12: Dior and I (2014) R  Come behind the scenes of the legendary Christian Dior fashion house in this documentary, which follows the creation of a new artistic director’s first haute couture collection. 1hr 30min. 

August 19: The Friend (2024) R A woman of solitary habits finds her life disrupted when her friend dies and leaves his dog, a massive Great Dane, in her care. This poignant film about learning to live again after loss stars Bill Murray, Naomi Watts, and Bing the dog.  1hr 59min

August 26: Festival (1967) NR This documentary, a time capsule from the 1963-1966 Newport Folk Festivals, captures performances and interviews from Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Howlin’ Wolf, Johnny Cash, and more. 1hr 35min.

September 2: The Penguin Lessons (2024) PG-13 A gloomy English expatriate, working in Argentina during a time of political instability, finds his life turned around when he rescues a penguin from an oil-soaked beach.  Based on a true story, this comedy-drama stars Steve Coogan and Jonathan Pryce. 1hr 51min.

September 9: Agent of Happiness (2024) PG Please rate your satisfaction with life on a scale from one to ten. This thoughtful documentary follows pollster Amber Kumar Gurung, who travels the kingdom of Bhutan interviewing its citizens for a government survey of happiness. 1hr 33min

September 16: Las Tres Sisters (2025) NR Three feuding Mexican-American sisters embark on a pilgrimage through Mexico to resolve their differences and honor their beloved grandmother in this heartfelt adventure film. Cristo Fernández, Maya Zapata, and Pilar Ixquic Mata star under the direction of Mar Novo. In Spanish with English subtitles. 1hr 42min

September 23: The Lost Leonardo (2021) PG-13 It was the most expensive painting ever sold at auction, and then it vanished. This art-world documentary tells an inside story of wealth, power, and the Salvator Mundi—is it a long-lost Da Vinci masterpiece, a “male Mona Lisa,” or is it a $450 million fake? 1hr 36min

September 30: Local Color (2006) R An elderly artist looks back on an exceptional summer in his life when he befriended a famous but reclusive painter. The friendship proved life-changing for both of them. Armin Mueller-Stahl, Trevor Morgan, and Samantha Mathis star under the direction of George Gallo. 1hr 47min.
