In the fall of 1775, Williamsburg turned its attention to war. Watch the 2nd Virginia Regiment train in the shadow of the Public Magazine, the building that helped spark Virginia’s revolution. As evening falls, the soldiers of the 2nd Virginia Regiment close out their day with Regimental Retreat. Watch as officers inspect the men, rolls are called, and the day’s orders are read aloud—then listen closely for the parole before the regiment marches back to camp, just as it did in 1775.
