Awakening Dissent: Religion, Revolution and Legacy
Awakening Dissent: Religion, Revolution and Legacy
Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30
American Revolution Museum at Yorktown
Attendance is free.
Advance registration is required.
Join us at the second Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation symposium supported by the Lilly Endowment, Inc. where participants will examine how religion influenced and impacted the American Revolution.
Differing cultural concepts of religion had far-reaching impacts on the social, political, and economic lives of the colonists as they set about declaring independence and building a new nation. Legacies of the cultural responses to these impacts are reflected in the societal fabric of America today.
In this symposium, religion scholars, museum professionals, and community members explore the role of religion and revolution in early America and the connections to the present day.

Attendance is free.
Advance registration is required.
