“The Pressing of Dunmore’s Proclamation” Lecture
Watermen’s Museum
Friday, November 7, 2025
6 pm
Join the Watermen’s Museum as they peer into the origins of the Virginia Bill of Rights in this lecture that is free and open to the public.
Lord Dunmore has silenced all dissent. He has seized the printing press in Hampton and has used it to print his proclamation offering freedom to any slave or servant of the rebels that would join the British Forces. Learn how freedom was lost for some and gained for others.
This event is part of the 250th Anniversary of Dunmore’s Virginia Campaign.
