This thoughtful, intriguing film posits the afterlife as a time when the moral choices you made in life are examined and judgment rendered. Oct. 16: Defending Your Life (1991) PG Following his death, a man (Albert Brooks) finds himself forced to defend his actions in life in this satirical romantic comedy. Oct. 23: Return from the Ashes (1965) NR A greedy gigolo (Maximilian Schell) marries a wealthy Jewish doctor (Ingrid Thulin) and inherits her money following her supposed death in Dachau. Oct. 30: My Favorite Wife (1940) NR Nick Arden (Cary Grant) just got married. Unfortunately, his first wife, believed to be deceased, suddenly shows up, putting a massive damper on the honeymoon.
