Yorktown Workboat Races
June 1 @ 11:00 am – 4:30 pm

This event is meant to celebrate the Chesapeake Bay Deadrise’s history as the official State Boat of Virginia. Watch a one-of-a-kind boat race, small, medium, and large workboats along the York River! The race begins at the Riverwalk Landing Fishing Pier and ends at the Coleman Bridge. Be sure to stick around for the last race of the day — the King of the Bay Race — featuring big workboats.
11 a.m.:
- View workboats on the dock
- Deadrise Builders Memorial
- Remote-controlled boat demonstration
- Several workboats celebrating their centennial anniversaries will be on hand
12:30 p.m.:
- Opening Ceremony
1 p.m.:
- Races begin with nearly 30 boats competing for the coveted King of the Bay Awards
4 p.m.:
- Awards ceremony
In addition to all the fun on the water, view a model boat exhibit in the Freight Shed throughout the day.
