Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown will offer special admission during Homeschool Family Days: September 6 – 14, 2025

Homeschool students will love discovering the sights and sounds of the 17th and 18th centuries while learning about their nation’s history.

A combination ticket for both Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown is available at a special rate for homeschool families. Education Stations

Education stations at each museum on select dates allow families to interact with educators as they explore a variety of historical topics as well as critical thinking, primary source analysis and how historians use clues from the past to put together a historical narrative.

Special Kick-off – Sept. 6 Revolutionary History Comes to You!

September 6
10 a.m. – 3 p.m.The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown has invited representatives from Virginia museums and institutions, including George Washington’s Mount Vernon and Fort Monroe, to kick-off the 2025 Homeschool Family Programs. History partners offer American Revolution programming in addition to the education stations at the museum.

Jamestown Settlement Programs

The Power of the Environment
September 8, 10 and 12 
10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Created for learners ages 3-7, programs explore the similarities and differences in the clothing styles of the three cultures converged in 1600s Jamestown. By exploring the different raw materials used to make clothing, learners are inspired to understand how their environment shapes their culture.

Perspectives of History: Three Cultures at Jamestown

Designed for students ages 8 and up, this station engages learners in a game of historical perspectives to examine how different people experience historical events. Located in the gallery, learners delve into personal stories as they discover what happened when three cultures came together at Jamestown.

Children in the Revolution

Designed for learners ages 3-7, explore what children would have been responsible for on a farm before the American Revolution and learn what would have changed after the colonies declared independence in 1776.

Perspectives of History: Decision Making in the American Revolution

A space for students ages 8 and up to engage in discussion through gameplay. This activity area allows learners to make choices about historical events to determine if they would support the Loyalist or Patriot cause or remain neutral.

Enjoy unlimited admission at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown to explore exhibition galleries and re-creations of a Continental Army encampment and Revolution-era farm.

About the Museums

Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily; closed Christmas and New Year’s days. Jamestown Settlement is located on State Route 31 near the Colonial Parkway in James City County, just southwest of Williamsburg and adjacent to Historic Jamestowne.
