Early Childhood Music School Director

The Early Childhood Music School (ECMS), based in Williamsburg, VA, has been a leader in music education for young children for over 30 years. We are passionate about nurturing a lifelong love of music through developmentally appropriate and joyful instruction grounded in research-based curricula. We serve children from birth through early elementary ages, along with their families, in a warm, engaging, and supportive environment.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an organized and enthusiastic leader to serve as Director of the Early Childhood Music School (ECMS). This is a part-time, onsite role working 25 to 29 hours per week. The ECMS Director is responsible for the overall operations of the school including recruiting & hiring of teachers, student enrollment & scheduling, fundraising & financial management, marketing & advertising of school offerings, as well as reporting on all school activities to the ECMS Advisory Board and the WUMC staff. Timing – start fall 2026 and co-lead with existing director for the fall semester, then assume full director responsibilities in January 2027.

Responsibilities – Direct operations of the ECMS including but not limited to:

• Staffing
• Administration
• Advertising

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 3 years program management experience
