The Schooner Virginia will make the voyage from its home port on the Elizabeth River in Norfolk to Yorktown Riverwalk Landing. Step aboard the 122-foot long schooner to explore and learn more about the history of the magnificent vessel.

The Schooner Virginia is making a port of call to offer FREE Deck tours which will run Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. as well as Sunday, July 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Schooner Virginia is owned by the Nauticus Foundation, an interactive science and technology center that explores the naval, economic, and nautical power of the sea. According to Ed Whitmore, Nauticus Board Member, “She is a great teaching platform, works to celebrate our unique maritime heritage and represents the solid and pure tradition for tall ships world-wide.”

VIRGINIA is a reproduction of the last all sail vessel built for the Virginia Pilot Association. The original ship sailed for the pilots from 1917-1926, training apprentice pilots in seamanship and navigation. The reproduction was built in Norfolk between 2002-2004. She has sailed up and down the Atlantic coast, as well as to international destinations such as Trinidad, Bermuda, and Price Edward Island.
