Fancy yourself a daredevil?  Well, now Busch Gardens Williamsburg is giving you the chance to prove it!  The park has unveiled its newest roller coaster – the 154-foot, 63mph, action-packed coaster Tempesto.  Even though it’s one of the shorter coasters at Busch, don’t be fooled.  This coaster has enough twists, turns and speed to deliver a truly exhilarating experience.

The ride begins with launching you forward out of the station, only to be rocketed backward through the station at speed.  Then, after briefly being suspended, you’re once again launched forward.  The coaster then takes you onto the upper section of track, where twists and loops are sequenced one after the other. The corkscrew inversion is a stand-out, leaving hanging riders upside down for a bit longer than they may expect.

The key to the ride is its intensity.  There are no breaks.  The action just keeps coming!  Even at its conclusion, Tempesto sneaks in an unexpected twist, with the train racing past the platform at high speed, only to be slowed, sent backward, and returned to its starting position.  If you are looking for a ride that keeps you on your toes, Tempesto may be just the thing you need.

Tempesto has the added benefit of being in Italy, which is close to the front of the park and home to another great coaster, Apollo’s Chariot. For parents that have the option to slip away for a few minutes, Tempesto is just a short walk from the Sesame Street Forest of Fun. Parents of teenagers – you will also be happy to know that Tempesto encourages, or rather requires, the use of fanny packs for any loose articles. You now have a legitimate way to get yourself, and your teenager, geared up for a family fanny pack photo op. Who could ask for more?

So put on your leather cap and daredevil goggles and give Tempesto a whirl!
