Spring Brings New WAG Art Sale to Bruton Parish House
Friday, April 19, 2024 – 4 pm – 8 pm
Saturday, April 20, 2024 – 10 am – 3 pm
A new selection of fine art by 20 artists will be on display at Bruton Parish House this month as the Williamsburg Artist Group returns for its popular spring show.
The event will be held on Friday, April 19, 4-8 p.m., with refreshments; and Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Artists will show their original two-dimensional works on easily accessible tables, easels, and grid walls in the large open space of Bruton Parish House.
According to Laurie Rokutani, one of the co-founders and leaders of the group, “The event has a big range and diversity of unique artwork – and this grows every year as our membership grows. We all love talking about our work to visitors, giving them the backstory of our creations. It’s a win-win opportunity for everyone there as well as a lot of fun. Prices also tend to be more affordable with this type of setup.”
Artists have their own perspectives and styles that appeal to different people. Offerings may include hand-painted notecards, plein air landscapes, intricate colonial scenes, interpretations of ancient Mayan art, portraiture, art rendered in unusual mediums, vector-based paintings, and playful abstracts. Some artists also offer prints of their original works and small unique items suitable for gift-giving.
WAG was established in 2018 as a way for local artists to show their work outside a traditional gallery. Sales are usually held twice a year and the venues may change.
This year, WAG will donate 10% of its total sales to the local charity FISH.
