Colonial Williamsburg is expanding their Youth Volunteer Programs. There are many opportunities for year-long or summer positions.

Fifes and Drums

If you are a local, you have witnessed the powerful performance the Colonial Williamsburg Fifes and Drums. Many children grow up looking forward to being apart of this living history. To join the Fifes and Drums, children should be entering 5th grade. No musical pre-requisites are required. Additional information and application HERE.

Archaeology Opportunities

Public Archaeology Institute invites rising 9th through 12th graders to work alongside archaeologists for a week during the summer. Participants will receive approximately six hours of “class time”. Learn more and apply HERE.

Colonial Williamsburg Expo

Youth Interpreters are recruited each year during Colonial Williamsburg Expo. The Expos inform parents and children of the different youth interpreter opportunities available throughout the foundation. Filling out the application today and your child will be added to the list of potential youth interpreters. 

  • Historic Area Patriots at Play (ages 12-18), Summer 
  • Historic Trades and Skills (ages 12-18), Year-long
  • Youth Interpreter Program, (ages 10 – 17) Year-long
