Homeschool Days VLM
Homeschool Days offer homeschoolers and their families discounted admission and educational programs. Programs are organized by age group, and the cost includes museum entry. This month the focus is on space. The three sections are as follows:
For The Littles: “Mars”
Time: 9:15 – 9:45 a.m.
Recommended Ages: 3–5
Description: Join our special time for the little homeschoolers as we read a story, do an activity, and meet an ambassador animal. This month, little learners will explore the idea of space and discover what makes Mars such an exciting planet.
Price: $15 non-member child, $4 member child, $18 non-member adult, free member adult (but must have ticket). Museum admission is included in program cost.
To the Moon and Back
Time: 10 – 10:45 a.m. (first session), 11-11:45am (second session)
Recommended Ages: 6+
Description: In this interactive program, students will explore Virginia’s skies and learn about the sun, the phases of the moon, and how both influence life on Earth. Perfect for curious minds ready to look up and ask big questions about the world above them.
Price: $15 non-member child, $4 member child, $18 non-member adult, free member adult (but must have ticket). Museum admission is included in program cost.
The World of Astronomy
Time: 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Recommended Ages: 12+ (Parents may attend in an observational capacity only)
Description: Ever wondered what it’s like to work at the Virginia Living Museum? This behind-the-scenes program introduces students to careers in astronomy. Led by our Astronomy Manager, participants will learn how modern astronomers study the night sky and the tools they use to unlock its mysteries.
Price: $12 non-member child, $24 member child. One adult may accompany each student, but must have valid museum admission and are participating in an observational capacity only. Museum admission is included in program cost.
