Harvest Festival for 2023 has been cancelled due to weather. Please stay tuned as there may be an opportunity to stuff a scarecrow on a different date.

The Harvest Festival is back! Join James City County Parks & Recreation for this fun, fall annual family tradition on Saturday, Sept. 23, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Chickahominy Riverfront Park! The festival features free activities for the kids including face painting, arts and crafts, inflatables, family photo opportunities, games (pre-school friendly too!), alpacas and “Touch-a-Tractor” sponsored by James River Equipment!

The trackless train will be there. All rides are FREE; hop aboard for a tour of the park’s scenic view! The American style gas locomotive features a smoke system, public address system, bell, horn and three passenger cars, one is ADA accessible. All cars have seatbelts, a child-proof latch and floor lights.

Scarecrow Stuffing is back too by popular demand, so come make the biggest, the best, and maybe the only scarecrow in your neighborhood.  First-come first-served while supplies last. and Scarecrow Stuffing is $20/scarecrow (includes all supplies – hay, clothes, paints, brushes and your space on the event field. If you would like to take your scarecrow supplies home with you, you can do that as well). All ages welcome.

There’s no admission fee; however, parking is $5/car (check or cash only). Local merchandise ($), food ($) and community vendors will also be onsite.

Chickahominy Riverfront Park is located at 1350 John Tyler Highway. The event is weather permitting; please call the Activities Hotline at 757-259-3232 for any schedule changes before heading out.
