The Virginia Black Film Festival at the Kimball Theatre – Thu, Feb 19 – Sun, Feb 22, 2026
The Virginia Black Film Festival marks its third year in partnership with Visit Williamsburg. The festival will showcase dozens of films in competition, along with accomplished guest speakers, celebrity appearances, and a Gala Awards Show. The event is designed to increase visibility and access for Black filmmakers and Black entrepreneurs—both within the community and among one another.
In 2026, as the nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of its founding—with Virginia at the center of the celebration—VBFF 2026 will honor the vital role African Americans played in the nation’s origins. The festival will also highlight the importance of sharing stories that portray the culture in positive and authentic ways. Outstanding films will be featured and recognized across multiple award categories, including special subcategories for historically significant works.
