Are you ready for a “wild” night of spooky animals, trail walks, pumpkin carving, pirates and princesses? Night of the Living Museum returns to the Virginia Living Museum for its 19th year on Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
This is a non-scary Halloween event for families with kids ages 12 and under.
Come dressed as your favorite character or wild animal. Trick-or-treat throughout the museum as you walk through themed galleries filled with characters and themed decorations! Make creepy crafts and play Halloween games.
Live animal shows featuring fierce and not-so-fierce Halloween critters.
Visit the tooth fairy and other princess favorites. Venture into the cave to seek out pirates and their treats for young trick-or-treaters. Plus, take a nighttime hike along the outdoor boardwalk and see the Dinosaur Discovery Trail by night!
Explore fun science with “Not the Mythbusters” in the Wason Education Center and be sure to look for the large inflatable characters for that perfect photo op! “Not the Mythbusters” show times will be 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, and 8:00 pm.
See the spook-tacular laser show “Fright Light” at 8:30 pm in the Abbitt Planetarium. This is a frightfully awesome mix of terror-ific tunes runs an hour long with wild and weird laser images accompany songs from Black Sabbath, Garbage, The Who and many more! “Fright Light” at 8:00 pm tickets are $3 for VLM members, $6 for non-members in addition to Night of the Living Museum admission. Song selections are family-friendly. Another option is the 30 minute version of “Fright Light” at 6:15, 7:00, 7:45 pm. Tickets are $3 for members, $6 for non-members.
Cost: Pre-sale tickets are $10 per member, $15 per non-member. Day of $18 per member; $23 non-members. NO SALES AT THE DOOR. Planetarium tickets will be sold at the lobby front desk during the event if you did not pre-purchase tickets.
Children ages 2 and under are free. Children 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
The museum will close at 4 p.m. on Oct. 19 and 20 to prepare for the evening event.
