Join YRSP to kick off to 2026 with one of two great hikes. Take a two mile journey to the newly introduced Hognose Trail overlook, with a grand view of the York River, and our living shoreline. Or go on a 4 and a half mile hike to the once great Majestic Oak Tree, that was around before the War of Independence, this hike will also have some views of the river through the trees. Both hikes will begin at 10:00 am from the amphitheater.
About First Day Hikes
Every year on January 1, Virginia State Parks celebrates First Day Hikes. This nationwide initiative invites people to ring in the new year by connecting with nature and making lasting memories at a state park. Ranger-led and self-guided First Day Hikes are offered across the state, giving visitors of all ages and skill levels the chance to explore outdoors. January 1 is a Free Parking Day at all Virginia State Parks. (The admission fee at Natural Bridge still applies).
