It’s time to celebrate the farmers. National Farmers Market Week is marked with a special day honoring local growers, makers, and dreamers. Shoppers are sure to find their regular favorites, as well as new varieties of fruits, vegetables, and pasture-raised meats. Families can participate in the “Guess that Produce” game and pick up free “I Love Farmers Markets” temporary tattoos and coloring sheets for the kids. The Virginia Chef’s Association will host a pulled pork barbecue cooking demonstration, and the Yorktown Flower Shoppe will show visitors how to make a summer floral arrangement. Children will also be able to make a bird feeder to take home, and local musician Phil Poteat will provide live entertainment from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the Riverwalk Landing Stage.

In case of inclement weather, the market will move to the lower level of the Water Street Parking Terrace.The free, ADA-accessible Yorktown Trolley will be in operation beginning at 10 a.m. during this event. For more information, see here.
