“Miseries and Dangers of Soule and Bodie: Conflicts of Faith in the Early Chesapeake” Lecture

York Hall 301 Main Street, Yorktown

Dr. Amy Stallings never quite knows what century she’s in. By day, she interprets the lives of women at Jamestown with Preservation Virginia; by night, she performs with Colonial Williamsburg’s historic dance ensemble. An adjunct professor at the College of William & Mary, Stallings brings the 1640s English Chesapeake to life through the story of indentured servant Anne Fletcher.
Through Fletcher’s harrowing journey, she explores the impact of religious and secular wars on everyday people—and the risks faced by those whose faith challenged established authority. Join the York County Historical Committee for this fascinating lecture. The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. In case of cancellation, updates will be shared via the event hotline at 757-890-3520.
